Ilkeston hosted the Sills U11's boys at their club festival on Sunday and what was very clear, they build 'em big in the East (Midlands).
Sils put out 2 teams, Sharks and Serpents. Each and every player was determined to bring home a trophy and they all put heart and soul in to all the games. The boys stepped up a level on Sunday and put the coaching into practice.
There was some fantastic rugby played, in attack, players were running on to the ball and releasing the ball out of tackles, but when the ball was taken into contact, there were some very big 'boshes' with the opposition being bounced and this really helped ball retention and quick release of the ball to continue the attack and tries were scored from this.
In defense, the tackling was great, the rucking, boys were going in and driving with their shoulders and driving the opposition back and winning ball.
The day ended with a great and "passionate" battle in the Plate final against Matlock. Despite some very tired legs, the boys played hard but fair and ground out a win against a bitterly disappointed opposition.
A great end to a brilliant tour, thanks go to Jackie and all who helped organize a fantastic weekend.
